I've been using windows vista since May and haven't had really a problem with it. I know most people say it's rubbish, but I quite like it. I know I didn't have much choice when I got the computer, but it would probably be better to stick to xp if you're not getting a new computer. Otherwise, they all seem to have vista on them anyway.

You'd be gaining a pain in the butt. Unless your hardware is up to date, you'll be for a little bit of a rough ride. I've used Vista, and although I did like some things about it, it was making me go nuts, and all I wanted to do was synch my MP3 player with my jump drive. I'd say stick with XP or seven when it comes out, unless u really want to give it a try.

It just depends on your hardware. My new computer runs Vista like a charm, and doesn't do a great job with XP.

Vista is pretty good now that they have released the System Pack. It all comes down to preference, both are good Vista has more features but Vista is more Visually Appealing and has a quite a lot of Graphical stuff that isn't accessible. Besides those special features Vista is just as accessible as XP. Go for Vista if you have the hardware, it takes up a lot of resources. You will need a good processor High end Dual Core or Quad Core to make it run plus a decent amount of RAM so that it doesn't lag with the screen readers... Enjoy..

Raj, that's the whole point that people are saying. You need a duel core or quad core to make it run without lagging. You need at least 2.5 gigs of ram to have it run comfortably. It takes a lot of resources. My desktop has a barely a 1 GHZ processor, and 512 MB of RAM, (believe me, that's on my christmas list, the money to get that upgraded), and it runs XP just fine. Sure, the CPU is nearly at 100 percent most of the time, but it works. But, as all have said before, it depends on preference, and if you have the hardware.

here's what i've discovered with vista. it works fine with my laptop wich had a 1.7 dual core with a gig of ram. i've sinced upped it to 2 gigs now, but that was just something i wanted to do, not something the machine needed. my quad core as said already has no problems what so ever. i'm very happy with vista, sure it has some little surprises, but what OS doesn't.

GOtta with SKPoet. Linux is pretty nice, and tiny too.

Agree about the hardware thing, at least have a dual-core processor or quad-core processor. I got a laptop about a month ago, system specs are as follows: Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel core 2deuo t3200 2.0 GHZ, 120 GB sada drive running at 5400RPM, 3 gigs of ram,(can be expanded to 4 gigs), system model is Dell Inspiron 1525, Graphics card: Intel GMAX3200 or something like that,(don't play a lot of graphics intensivegames), and a sygmatelle HD soundcard. And skpoet tried Linux, and was really amazed. So, it all depends on what hardware you have. It vista runs grate for me. Don't like the UI, though.

And of course, Vista has it's security wholes and stuff like that.

Based on what I've heard about Vista, I really didn't care for it. So instead of upgrading to vista, I ended up getting a Mac, and have totally loved the MacOS experience, and I wouldn't go back to Windows.

You did a good thing. Congratulations, but if you ever need a Windows fix, you may feel good that your Mac will run Vista without a hickup.

Agree with Jesse, good choice. Man, I want a mack.
